This year marks the 25th anniversary of the launch of the ERAMUS scheme in Law by Mr John Brown. To celebrate John’s key role in the scheme and the positive impact of ERAMUS on the School of Law and its staff and students, we are hosting a reunion for all graduates that took part in ERASMUS whilst at Glasgow.

Details are still being confirmed but we are planning for the event to take place in November this year. To register you interest in attending, please contact Bicola Barratt-Crane, College Development Officer, in the Development and Alumni Office and she will ensure you receive an invitation in due course. If you know of other alumni who would also like to attend but may not be still in touch with the University, please spread word and encourage them to get in touch too: Bicola.Barratt-Crane@glasgow.ac.uk, 0140 330 7148.

  1. ERASMUS: In September 1989 two German students arrived at the University of Glasgow from Mainz in Germany, marking the beginning of the establishment of exchange programmes that have enriched the studies of many students over the years. Established to encourage student mobility across EU member states, the ERASMUS scheme provides a fantastic opportunity for students to broaden their horizons, further their academic and personal development and have an experience abroad that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

John Brown Travel Scholarship Fund: As part of the celebrations, we will launch a travel scholarship fund in memory of John Brown. John was a much admired and respected colleague, lecturer and friend to staff and students of the School of Law and a key champion of studying abroad. By launching this fund in his memory, the School of Law would like to celebrate his lasting contribution to the study abroad scheme, enabling future generations to benefit from the experience of studying abroad which has already had a positive effect on so many.
